Not remotely. It is a symbol of the Old South, not slavery.

Thanks Lee H... I agree with you...
of all the people that thinks the South is bad, have you ever thought about what the north did to people. Why don't ya'll look it up instead of blaming it all on the South. The north started the War by making the South pay more Taxes. Thats why we have Tax on everything now. There are more things besides that but you can look it up. Slavery was a little part of it. Only 10% of white people had slaves, Why would the north and South go to War for 10%. The South was about to abolish it anyway. I'm not a raciest person but I know the truth of what happen. So maybe some of you ignorant people will do more research on it, hopefully you'll understand it better. Until then STOP blaming the Confederate BATTLE Flag and the South. another thing my grandparents and great grandparents worked with black people. They were share cropers, one would help the other.

The Nazi symbol was originally a Indian peace symbol that has been used to strike fear in to millions. I feel like the same thing has happened to the confederate flag. The KKK adopted it as their own and made it icon for violence.
No I don't have the problem with the flag. In fact I think it is cool looking, but I would never display it because of the misunderstanding in it's meaning. It is not a "Politically Correct" thing, it is just about being considerate to those who associate it with hatred.

No, I don't find it offensive. You need to understand that the confederate flag doesn't stand for slavery. This is the flag that the south has flown since it was founded. Alot of confederate soldiers died trying to abolish slavery. It's not an offensive flag, it's the people with hate in their hearts who percieve it that way. Every state has a flag, why can't Georgia have thiers? Thank you and GOD bless.

My dear Grandfather Ballew. told me with some tears in his eyes about his uncle who lost his leg to a Yankee bullet and how it ruined his life.he told me how the Yankee troops burned his grandfathers home down in the middle of the night along with the entire city of Columbia.S.C.how his grandfather had many 1000s of acres and a Yankee moved on it and took him to court and took most of his land.and I heard how my other grandfathers land was taken.and things were real bad for the family. having to hunt for food and eat possums.and after I heard these story's I fly the flag, I painted the entire church property of a black Church.for Free. took a few months. part time to do it, Its .across the street from my home..The Open Heart Baptist Church.206 Stafford street. Greenville . S.C.29605 and have taken in a black neighbor. Troy. when he lost his home.for a month and helped him find a job.so don't say I am racist, your the racist one not to understand.and my people didn't have slaves.only 6% of Southerners had slaves. the northerners had slaves also. general Grant said he wasnt going to give up his slaves.and that war wasn't about slavery.the North had slaves also. Lincoln only freed the Southern slaves so they would run away to fight the South.Lincoln said he was going to colonize the blacks and ship them all to South America. The victors write the history books, theres five times more kkk members in the north.then the south.the white people in N.Y.C. hung over a 1000 blacks during the civil war.how many 1000s of ennocent blacks where hung or murderd by other people in the north is not known.but it must have been in the tens of 1000s..I hope you have a Great New Year.

It does not offend me. I see the Confederate Flag as a historic symbol. However, I can see how it would bother your father (in much the same way something like a swastika would bother me).

You should watch Dukes of Hazzard, the movie. The two hick guys drive into Atlanta and they don't know there's a big confed. flag on top of their car. Since Atlanta is such a mixture of north/south/educated/uneducated, some people were giving them a dixie yell of appreciation while others were giving them the finger and telling them to join the 21st century.
I think older people find it offensive just as older people don't like a swastika. Younger people don't have the same emotional reactions.

Yeah, its pretty repulsive and at the very least, tacky. It did look nice on RuPaul in To Wong Fu, though.
