She needs to help herself. If she is lazy and is going to depend on welfare. Let her know most programs have changed. At least in my state. You are allowed a total of 60 months (5 years). Also, they help you find a job so you can leave the system, and if you don't comply, they sanction you, (Take away a percentage of the money) until you do comply.

If you call being an unwed mother who lives off the state having a life of ease, you obviously don't know a whole lot and don't have much compassion either. Maybe having this child will give the girl something to live for and her apparent "laziness" stems more from depression over her crappy life than true unwillingness to be professionally or personally unmotivated. How about trying to help the girl by teaching her self-respect first and then moving on to how to properly caring for a baby, how to love herself and her child enough to move forward, and how to be self sufficient so she doesn't have to rely on others for help...instead of judging her and making a bad situation worse. She obviously hasn't had a very good role model for whatever reason and needs someone to look up to and respect who she can trust to give more good advice and less criticism. Good luck!!!

Well, she won't have a life of ease if she keeps the baby. The state will help her by giving money, but her best bet seems to be to offer the baby up for adoption. There are so many couples who can't have children and would be willing to help her with pregnancy expences in exchange for being given the option to adopt her child. Most newspapers offer a section for adoptions. Tell her to check it out.

If you collect AFDC in California, they give you 5 years. They will make you go to job training and find gainful employment. They will not let you collect forever. And their allotment is barely enough to live on, you won't have a life of ease.

those are the kind of women that need to learn that life doesnt get easier until you try and help yourself- she will soon learn she needs a job and a house to take care of child- but people shouldn't hand her things just because they feel sorry for her- it's tough but we all have problems and we all need to deal with our own problems- why should she be the exception, but however the best way to help is to encourage her and be a friend

You can't make her do better. SInce she has a kid the government will go out of their way to throw money at her and let her sit on her butt. She won't be rich, but she won't starve. You could try to get the state to intervene if you think she is a bad parent.

Go to the state government and sign up for free money that the taxpayers have donated for her to have her baby.
I'm suprised that she didn't learn anything in health class and use birth control that's usually offered free by organizations to teens who want to sleep around before they can afford to support their children.
