My boss created a power point presentation that looked like a 5 year old could have done it. She used the wrong "there" in a sentence more than once. I couldn't even understand half of her run on sentences. I am not claiming to be a genius, but how could someone superior to me be so dumb? I can't stand it!!!

Unfortunately, emphasis is not put on spelling and grammar anymore. It drives me nuts too.

Remember the story in high school of the class clown being elected class president. A little later in life, a man by the name of Bush was also elected President of the United States. In both of these cases intelligence, grammar, spelling and the English language was clearly not part of the required criteria. Keep the faith---Your boss is only your boss and never can be your superior.

Welcome to the world of politics at the workplace.

It doesn't matter who is the smartest in a lot of cases. All it takes is whoever has the boss in his or her pocket. And tada, the dummy gets the promotion.

This is not the most ideal workplace, but many times it is the reality more often than not.

There was this one guy who was as dumb as a box of rocks and he got the cushy job while the rest of us who knew the job better were passed over. But he was a known "brown-noser" so none in our group were surprised at it, and none of us would stoop that low.

I had a boss who love to use big words (rest his soul). The only problem was, they were clearly the WRONG big words! For instance, he called his credenza a crescendo! haha! But he was a very fair, fun, and kind boss, so that helped to make his errors endearing rather than annoying. Usually. He didn't seem to try to act better than us. It's when a person is clearly stupid and doesn't even realize it and tries to look down their snout at you that makes me *furious*!!!

You are equating stupidity with poor grammar. Many people are pretty smart, but somewhere along the line, they missed the boat on some of our grammar rules or spelling nuances. My pet peeve is "he don't", "she don't", instead of, "he doesn't", "she doesn't". The fact is, we ALL make grammatical errors, and it doesn't necessarily mean one is dumb, however, if someone makes enough of these glaring mistakes, they sure can come across that way!

I'm with you....can't stand stupid people, but my problems is with people who don't use their common sense ability. I've found out that if you're book smart, then most have no common sense for life. If you're life taught you may not be so smart in book learning. And now days its the same as long ago, it's not what you know it's who you know.

I understand the way you feel...its best to just ignore it....don;t go around correcting people, no point, they'll just hate you as a result. Just try to learn to bear with it..that's all i can say..

It is possible that she didn't benefit from the same sort of education that you did.
Perhaps she isn't as clever or quick as you are?

Sadly, this will not be your last encounter with "stupid people".

Could be in this case she has more Life Experience than you have. And in this case maybe she wanted you to clean up her mistakes.
