With roughly 12 minutes remaining in the first quarter of their game VS Atlanta, Andy Reid became aware that DAL had lost @ home to DET. This news flashed during David Akers' FG attempt (which was good, BTW). With PHI special teams unit on the field (and KO back to ATL fast approaching), Reid was able to quick-conference w/coordinator Jim Johnson and decide who sits. PHI wins NFC East, no need to keep players in that might otherwise risk serious or aggrivate existing injury. Shame Mike Holmgren didn't do the same in TB.

After the Eagles got word of the Dallas loss to Detroit, this meant the Eagles clinched a home game for their playoff game against the Giants....to be played Sunday.

So, they rested Garcia to avoid injury, since whether the Eagles won or lost did not make any difference...they had already clinched the division title when Dallas lost.

they rested Garcia. They played their 3rd string QB! and they played all their subs for the defense and offence and still crushed the falcons! ok...back to your question...they rested garcia becuase the cowboys lost their game to the detroit lions. so...the eagles would have gotten into the playoffs and been 3rd seed(3rd place) in the NFC even if they lost. so the eagles really didn't care if they won or lost. GO EAGLES!!!!

Jeff Garcia has a history of stupid, easily avoidable injuries. I think they were just trying to make sure he's healthy for the playoffs.

They rested him for the playoffs......THey didn't want to take a chance of him getting hurt and not be able to be the QB in the playoffs...
