Hello, Over the weekend we went to the Hyatt Regency for New Year's Eve. It was a wonderful time but at Midnight they had what seemed to be a million balloons dropping and they were large 16" balloons blown up very tight and people were popping them everywhere and it was incredibly loud. My wife hates balloons popping anyway but was doing ok for a while. She kept holding balloons and dancing and people kept popping them for the next 2 hours and it was really loud and they were very obnoxious drunks in doing so. My wife now feels she ruined the night because we left the party to our room because of the balloon popping. She did take 5 with her and even brought them home with us on Monday. She feels she ruined NYE for me and I keep telling her that I love that she is a sensitive and sweet person but she is very distraught about this. How do I convince her that I love her for who she is and it makes her special?

Do something sweet for her where you let her know that as long as ringing every New Year that's to come they will never be dull or ruined... She probably feels like she did since you know that the popping get to her.. Let her know that you left to your room early not just for her but for the both of you...

Hi, I think, it's your wedding and you can have what ever you like! i've been to a few weddings were there have been a lot of balloons and it looks nice especially on the dance floor, and if your having kids, its good fun for them and lets the parents not have to watch them as much cos they know where they are :) with games i don't know if you want ideas, but at this one particular wedding they played a game where it was similar to the garter toss but instead of the husband taking the garter off and throwing it, they had all the guys join them on the dance floor then had the waiter staff bring out all these balloons and drop them in the dance floor, one of these balloons had a little plastic ring inside it and the idea was that the 1st guy to find this balloon was the one who won the garter! it was quite funny to watch as all these men hurried across the dance floor to try and find the balloon... :)

Sounds like you said all that you could say to your wife. She has to convince herself that she didn't ruin it. You sound like a great hubby! Keep up the good work. Your wife will come around. New Years just happened so give her some time.

Make her lighten up - buy her a boquet of balloons and tell her on the card "My love for you is not this fragile, it will never pop"
It would make me laugh and feel better.

Seems to me like you already tried to make her feel better about the situation. Dont know what else you could do? Maybe she needs to talk to someone....
