Most shy people I know, while quiet, are very polite and kind hearted and yet they are frequently shunned by others and widely disliked. It’s as if more outgoing people don’t acknowledge the presence of people in the world that are quieter and may have difficulty connecting with others. They act as if being quiet were a crime.

In my experience, people have often thought I was a snob because I was quiet. I still am quiet, unless I'm with good friends, and I really don't mind one bit what people think of that anymore. I know exactly where you're coming from on this one.

I never heard of that. Most people I know actually like and appreciate shy people way more that noisy people. I think the real problem is that shy people are so busy with themselves that they don't even notice that they are loved and liked. Open your eyes a little bit and you will see that people like your sensitivity.

A lack of understanding leads to avoidance among people. I am way too quiet, but often times it is TO be avoided. This is a blessing and a curse.
