SO IS BEARSHARE SAFE AND DOES IT CONTAIN PORN?

It's the people that are sharing that are the problem, not the p2p client. Limewire and Bearshare actually work on the same network, so they are going to be pretty much the same.
Always virus scan anything you download before running it. Always.

I use BearShare, and am happy with it. There are search filters that you can use to eliminate a great number of the pornographic files that you may come across. I'm afraid it will always be there in P2P systems.

If you can get hold of bearshare lite it seems cleaner in terms of viruses and the like, but as everyone else is saying- all these networks have porn, you just have to filter.

NO!!! Bearshare is NOT safe. It sent me a virus and my computer got so messed up, I couldn't even turn it on. My advice, either get your music off of CDs, Limewire, or allofmp3.com. I recommend allofmp3.com. It has whole albums for $2 and stuff.

They've all got porn if you go looking for it. Just because it shows up in your searches doesn't mean you have to download it. Be careful as well about viruses and what you download - ensure your computer has good anti-virus software, a working firewall and anti-spyware programs

smae network, and u'll always find porn on these things......bad for most, gr8 for others.
try www.piratebay.org this is great for downloading, it may look a little complicated if ur used to p2p dwnloading but it tells u how 2 download on the site ("how do i download") u dnt need to sign up(it doesnt cost anything) and theres no porn!

no way its horrible! It gave my neighbor like tons of viruses and she had to get a new one cuz it was screwed up beyond repair. But no it has pretty good filters so theres not much porn, it just gives viruses.
