Sounds like it could be the CV joint. CV stands for "Constant Velocity." When you make a turn the outer wheel of the car needs to cover more ground in the same time as the inner wheel. (The outer wheel needs to be able to move faster.) CV joints can be found on front wheel drive cars and possibly some four weel drive. They do for the front what a differential does for a rear wheel drive car.
How many parts there are, how much it might cost, etc. might depend on the car. Some cars allow for replacement of only the core parts. Others may require an entirely new axle unit. Oh and like I said it could be the CV but I can't be sure. Good luck.

bad cv joints. You know what a drive shaft on a rear wheel drive car looks like. It has a U joint at each end. Well if you take the cv boot apart it will look kind of similar. It is what transfers power from the tranny to the tires. You are better off replacing both sides. What you need is a drivers and passengers side half shaft. They are better known as half shafts. With the half shaft you get the whole assembly cv joint and boots all in one piece. So if you replace both sides you should have to buy 2 parts. A passenger side and a drivers side. Not too expensive unless you are paying someone to do the work. I have a 99 Pontiac grand prix and at napa the right side is $109.99 and the left is $89.99. That is just the parts so expect about $300 per side if having a mechanic replace them

It's the CV joint. The CV joint is on the end of the axle.
It will be the front wheels.
As for left or right, that depends on where the noise is coming from. A good mechanic will find it very quickly.

ok. if it only happens when steering is turned as far as it will go it may only be the steering stops which is normal.
i rec to go to a parking lot and drive in a circle, mild acceleration to put stress on outside wheel. then do the circle the other way. if the clicking noise is present then yes you probably need a front half shaft (contains cv joint) replaced. there is one half shaft on each side on the front of most front wheel drive vehicles. best if you put vehicle information in your question. i hope this helps. feel free to email me, i can ask questions and give a more complete answer.

YOU HAVE A BAD CV JOINT SINCE THEY ARE TURNING WHENEVER THE WHEEL TURNS THEY ARE IN A BIND WHEN TURNING. NORMALLY THEY MAKE MORE NOISE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE YOU ARE TURNING TO. THE GOOD NEWS IS THEY ARE RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. COST IS USUALLY BETWEEN 50 AND 75 AND IF YOU HAVE A HANDY FRIEND TAKES ONLY 30-45 MINUTES TO REPLACE.
THE BAD NEWS IS IF IT BREAKS YOUR CAR WILL NOT MOVE. SO I RECOMMEND GETTING IT REPLACED. LOOK FOR A TORN CV BOOT TO NARROW IT DOWN. YOU SHOULD REPLACE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME SINCE THEY WEAR EQUALLY AND IT IS LESS TROUBLE TO DO IT ALL AT ONCE

its like changeing something new and leaving something old.you don't know how long the old will last now, cause the new could put more strain on the old parts.yes it sounds like your cv joints.in the front check both a real mechanic can tell what is really worn.if not fixed it could be worse cause if it breaks it can tear under and cut power steering hoses and do more damage

The click sound is the starter solenoid attempting to push the Bendix (starter drive) located at the end of the starter near the ring gear (flex plate) to engage do to low battery voltage. You have an electrical short draining the battery. You've got to charge the battery with a self leveling automatic charger @ 2 amps. The charger shuts down when the battery is charged.
