do not think people in southie are?Is it because more black people and minority are living in Roxbury and Dorchester?

I'm not sure really why people assume that. . .I guess they associate it with crime rates and stuff. But South Boston is probably just as bad. The thing is, really, it's mixed all over. There are some parts of Roxbury and Dorchester that have REALLY nice houses and stuff. Same thing with Southie. But then other parts are just run down and tattered. I guess it's probably a stereo type, especially for people not really from the area.

It is less expensive to live in Roxbury and Dorchester, but it is defnintely not cheap. Since it is less desirable to live there than say Beacon Hill or Back Bay, it makes it less expensive, so consequently, people that have a lower income can only afford to live in these parts of the city. Southie is not cheap, and it is made up of a lot of working class, blue-collar folks. It is considered a tough neighborhood, but has less crime than Roxbury or Dorchester

I think people have preconceived notions about certain cities and their ethnic makeup.
