How do I adjust the brakes on a 1990 Ford Tempo?

Rear drum shoes are supposed to adjust themselves when you step on the brake pedal while going in reverse. If the shoes are real worn, that won't work anymore. You might need to get the wheels off and do a proper brake inspection.

Front brakes adjust themselves, the back drum breaks are adjusted by laying on the ground, look at the back of the drum and you should see a cap that pops off, there will be a gear in there that you can click with a screw driver, be sure to click them each the same ammount though..good luck

By stepping on the brake pedal if they are working properly. They are self adjusting
