first tell me why someone who accepts the theory of evolution would have an answer to these?

The correct question is not "why" but "how." Asking why something exists implies that there is a predestined purpose for it, when there isn't. Asking how it got that way helps you understand the natural processes that led to a particular change.

As for the intelligence of humans, that evolved along with our larger brain, our evolution to upright locomotion, and our increased need to use intelligence rather than speed or force to find food and keep ourselves from being eaten. Once our ancestors became bipedal, they could no longer rely on speed to get quickly away from predators; nor could they simply hide out in the trees all day long. Ditto with catching food. They had to start using problem solving skills to figure out what was edible and how to catch or pick it, as well as how to evade predators. So of course the stupid ones got eaten or starved to death, and the smart ones reproduced to create a smarter second generation...and so on!
