Yes of course, they have to or else no babies will come. They can't split themselves and make another donkey that way. All mammals have to have sex, and so do all reptiles, fish and birds since they still need sperm to make eggs.

How else would we get donkey, or mule babies? I should know, my donkey just got my mare pregnant. ( it was a funny sight lol!)

Why, yes they do. If they didn't, then donkeys would have been extinct years ago. All creatures procreate, and some funguses too.
