Have to agree with the masses and pick Jagr for best European.There are a few other greats, many mentioned already but like someone else said the numbers dont lie and he has performed at a high level for a very long time both with and without great players around him.
As for Russian players I am leaning toward the "Professor" Igor Lirianov, he was as brilliant a thinking man on the ice as anyone who has ever played the game and he was awesomely talented as well. But some consideration also for Tretiak, he was without a doubt the most feared goalie of his time. He was legendary even in North America where he never got an opportunity to display his skill. that says a lot about him.
