I'd say that the best information tool on the internet is Google Scholar. When you're using Google Scholar, you type in your search terms like a regular search engine, but the results that are displayed are generally academic or professional papers and journal articles. The difference between a scholarly source of information and a regular web site is huge in terms of quality and reliability of information. Instead of having to basically guess about whether or not the information is backed by research, or if it's just made up, with scholarly articles and papers you can always find out information about the author(s) and their qualifications, and you can also look up information about the journal or book that published them. You can also track what is called the "stream of research" on a topic, which basically means that you can easily look up what many professional researchers and scholars say about a topic. when you google something look at the cached pages - your search items are highlighted in different colours making it easy to find what you were searching for
