Many groups want to limit freedom of speech due to the need to shut down real debate on issues. I do not care if you are right wing or left wing. When it comes to college, a radical leftist agenda is shoved down the throats of most students in Canada and then the right wing comes in. I am pro-choice. I am not against same-sex marriage or single parenthood. I don't give a damn about it at college, or anyone's family values/pro-life platform. People go there to learn.
So there is this problem and then people trying to shut down any real debate within the classroom about issues while suing to get their right to hold vigils, protests and large organized meetings on campus. Academic censorship. I don't care if they give the boot to a real hatemongerer or harasser, in the real sense, but other than that, I have no need for anyone's agenda.
If I want to take courses on classical studies, ancient Greek, Latin, archaeology, I can't find that, but we've got every course on nothing available. It makes sense to me that Chinese Canadians should be able to take their language in college and form a culture club or take courses on their religion and history, but that isn't the same thing as people pushing their agenda, right or left, down your throat. If I wanted to go to a protest or recruitment meeting for socialists, radical feminists, militant activists, or religious fundamentalists, I would.

You have got to be kidding, Democrats attacking free speech that's funny.
When I am told I am not a loyal American Citizen because I dare to question my President on the war, that is attacking free speech.
Passing a law to prevent kids from verbally attacking another child is not.

i think this bill seeks to protect students from being humiliated and abused by other students, and perhaps preventing atrocities such as columbine, in which the attackers were heavily bullied and shunned by their peers

Everybody attacks free speech all the time.
Why do those opposed to Bush "hate their country?" I mean please...
Besides, do you mean to say that you support bullies? You think bullies should be allowed to verbally harrass people?
