Provided you mean left/right as in your left/right while you are laying in bed. I don't remember where I read this, but it has something to do with the wedding ceremony and why sleeping this way is so common in our culture. We get married and sleep this way because it is easier for the man to protect the woman this way. This started in wedding ceremonies so the man's right arm was on the outside of the couple, away from the bride, and men had their swords on their left sides. This way, a man's right arm was free to draw his sword if need be to protect his wife and himself during the ceremony. He could easily reach across his body, get his sword, and have the weapon on the opposit side of his body as his bride so he had more room to maneuver it safely. This is also why we sleep this way. I don't know, though, why this has stuck for so long, since men no longer have their swords on their hips during weddings and next to them when they sleep (well, I guess some weird ones still sleep with knives/guns, but that's probably their own problem). But anyway, I don't think it really matters in today's world.

It's just the way you are. My finace and I switch sides periodically because he likes it a little cooler than I do - in the summer, he sleeps closer to the air conditioner, and in the winter, he sleeps next to the window.
One possible reason (although I'm not sure if you mean left when you're looking at the bed, or when you're in it): I've heard that it's a little better to sleep on you right side than your left, so that other internal organs aren't over your heart - supposed to be better for circulation, I think. So if you spoon a lot and happen to both be more comfortable on you right sides, that could be a possible reason why...

I also sleep on the left and my husband on the right, but that's just because the right side is close to the door and he leaves for work earlier than I do.
We recently moved the furniture around, so I used to sleep on the right when the left side faced the door. I don't think it really matters.

I sleep on the right and mu husband sleep on the left. Are we sleeping on the wrong side. I really didn't know that there was a right or wrong side. I don't think it matters as long as you both go to the same bed. it could be worse.

It matters to me because I am most comfortable sleeping on my left side facing the edge of the bed, which means I need to be on the right side of the bed. I could sleep on the other side, but it would not be as comfortable to me.

I think theres a reason for everything. It could be the same way for the majority of us. I looked at the question and thought about it and I sleep on the right side or at least want to. It kinda reminds me of something else. When I hold hands wit my wife My hands and wrist must be on top of hers. If it was the opposite it would feel very uncomfortable for both of us. One day try it and see if you agree wit me.

Here is my rule of thumb: I sleep on the side closest to the door. In the event that someone comes in I can defend my lady. If they intend to shoot they will shoot the person closest, another reason.
It is more of a defensive thing. I always end up on the right though for some reason. That is funny now that you mentioned it.

My husband and I have our "favorite" sides of the bed. Mine is right, his is left. I don't know I think it just some kind of routine of what we get used to. I get up first and the alarm is on the right side so that is one reason I sleep on that side.

My wife is right i am left. The alarm clock is on the left, so that might be how we started that way. I also am a light sleeper so being closer to the door i can hear my daughter down the hall if she needs me in the middle of the night..
