I am 38 weeks pregnant, been losing my mucus plug slowly, 2 cm dilated and 50 % effaced. When in preterm labour @ 35 1/2 weeks on Dec 16th. The doctor stopped it through IV. The doctor and nurse don't think I will make it to my due date (Jan 18)

Been having contractions off in on everyday, but they do not increase in strength. Contractions seem to be getting worse everyday. Back Pain and having a lot of soft frequent bowel movements. Is labor right around the corner?? ( I hope so)

I would say so. Maybe not tonight or tomorrow, but defintely soon. Just pay close attention to your body and when you feel like you need to be checked then dont hesitate to go. With my first, I knew at 36 weeks that I was 100% effaced and dilated to a three...but I wasnt getting ANY contractions. I woke up with a very SLIGHT back ache the following week and just felt a little weird. I wasnt having ANY contractions that I knew of but wanted to call my doc anyway. I went in to my doctor that morning and when she checked my cervix I was 7 cm! I walked over to labor and delivery and my daughter was born three hours later! Just proof that not all women have regular contractions to know they are in labor! Just be careful and good luck!

ps I had been having some loose bm's and had lost my mucus plug too!

I was 38 weeks and not effaced or dilated at all.

My waters started leaking at 10am one morning and contractions started about 3pm. I went from 1.5cm to 7cm within about 4 hours! And to 10cm within another hour! It was my first baby.

The contractions were all in my back and pretty painful and I had soft bowel movements too.

Sounds like you're in labour to me!

i would say your in labour. that's how it was for me lots of bowel movements... its your body's way of preparing for the baby to travel down. i was in a lot of pain at this stage though and already at the hospital. i was only in labour for 3 1/2 hrs but they do say the quicker it is the more intense the pain is. i dilated from 2cm to 8cm in approx 1 hour. but you say you've been getting back pain and contractions and are already 2cm dilated so hopefully you should have a fairly easy/straightforward time. Do enjoy it - it may not seem like it at the time but it will be worth it, trust me. GOOD LUCK! xxx

I believe so. I had contractions for a week just on and off with really bad back pains. I was dilated one centimeter for a week. Finally one day my back and stomach hurt all day on and off just not consistent. Through out the day it got worse at mid night i thought i had to go to the bath room that's how it was feeling but i couldn't so i took a bath a cursed my but off in that bath tub then i got out got a banana got in the bed hoping it would make me go to the bath room I heard a pop like the baby kicked something it wasn't supposed to then water gushed out every where my water had broke four hours later my 7 lb 4oz baby was born. So good luck cause it wont be long and your baby will be here i pray yours goes as smooth as mine did

Good Luck!

Sounds like it. I had almost the same experience. I went in one afternoon and the dr stripped my cervix to help labor along and my water broke at home the next morning. Maybe that would help you along. Then contractions still didn't start without pitocin. 4 hours later my second child was here. Contractions didn't start naturally with either one of my children, so everyone's experience is different. Just be persistent with your dr., make sure they are aware of all your syptoms.

If you really want to go into labor I would suggest have relations with your significant other. I am in the military and was supposed to return to base so the night before I left we had relations in an attempt to induce labor. Lets just say that a few hours later she was ready to pop that baby out ;) Sounds like your doing good your way but if you really want her/him to be her now, then you know what to do.

sounds like it might be. try going up and down a flight of stairs two or three times back to back and that'll help the contractions regulate. or you can have sex.
