Because every baby in the womb is made with the ability to develop into a female before a gender is actually determined - therefore nipples are formed.

Because mammals are female in the womb to a certain point. Since we all start out as women in the womb we all have some female development. At a certain point in the womb the fetus is flooded with male hormones and it causes the fetus to stop developing as a female and to start developing as a male. SO, men's nipples are vestigal of this period of development. Plus you could make them work if you took female hormones :)

Because when you are born you are born as a woman genetic changes are made during the later stages in development that make you a man but the nipples stay put.

Every living person has nipples, when we are in the womb of our mothers, the chromosomes from your mother and father decide if your male or female, but all babies start out female until the chromosomes give you the characteristics of a male or female.

To tell you the truth, nobody really knows. The best explanation I've been able to find (and frankly it doesn't explain very much) is that nipples aren't a sex-linked characteristic. In other words, nipples are just one of those sexually neutral pieces of equipment, like arms or brains, that humans get regardless of sex.

Because, as some have said, every human being is a woman to begin with. The genetic material of a male has not yet begin to start the process of forming the male parts a.k.a. the male reproductive system. so until then, the body begins to form giving the male nipples.
But the boob thing....yeah.....men aren't supposed to have boobs!

The theory is that they were just for attracting mates way back in history. I agree with the theory, men would look pretty dumb without them.
