Just an old wives' tale. There is no scientific basis for this, surely noone thinks that!
There is always someone who says "It worked for me" but then there are only two options for a pregnancy - girl or boy, so there is a 50% chance any old wives' tale will work!
Can't beleive people still beleive this stuff in 2007!

not a wives tale but i believe in 2003 there was a harvard study that showed women had an increase in appetite when carrying boys than women carrying girls. they believe its linked to the testosterone produced from the male testicles.
if thats true i'm more likely carrying a boy.

My dad is a hoot! He firmly believes in this "theory" but uses a needle instead He has done it on all of my friends and his friends over the years and has been nearly 100% accurate! Weird, but true. Funny however... When he tried me ( I'm an only child ) The needle would not swing. Stood completely still! Ha Ha! So today I found out "IT'S A GIRL"

When I was pregnant my friend did the ring test on me... she couldn't get a reading in the middle so she tried to either side, one side of my tummy showed a boy and the other a girl, so she said I must be having twins, but turned out I was pregnant with a boy. So it didn't work for me, unfortunately.

Circle for girl, straight for boy.
I was predicted a girl, scans said a boy.
I had a boy!!!
For me, old wives tale is all it is!!

I don't know what i'm having but it circles for me, my friend who is definatley having a boy did the forward and back thing. I already have a boy so would be nice if correct. (This was done on a thread both over palm and over bumps!!)
