A GED means that the person did not graduate from high school and it stands for "General Equivalency Diploma". You need to contact your local high school to find out what you need to complete in order to obtain a GED (if you really need it). You will have to provide the schooling that you have completed so that the local school can evaluate what is needed to complete the requirements for the GED....

If you did ok in school then the GED should not be any more difficult than what you have already experienced!

Good luck!

A GED means that you have the equivalent of a high school education.

When asked on emloyment applications if you graduated from high school, you may mark that you have.

I would suggest getting your high school diploma, though. It will make you feel a lot better about yourself...in my opinion. I got my GED in 1995, but I wish I had stuck out high school and graduated with my class. The GED had not hindered me at all, though.

The testing is not difficult, if you know the material. I would get into a GED class at a community college in your area. Most of the schools have scholarships you can get for getting your GED...and some employers even offer payment assistance for you to get it.

To get a GED you have to take a test. A GED is a certificate that says you've earned a high school level education. To take the test you have to apply. The waiting time for an application could be months if not years. I had a couple of friends in high school who made the mistake of dropping out & waiting to get their GED. It's been three years & they are still in line. Just finish high school< it's easy & it's not worth wasting the education you obtained in elementary school & junior high school.

General Equivelancy Diploma--I would suggest to contact your local school system to find out the information of how long it takes. Some places offer classes to prepare for the GED test if you think you may need to. Check this out with the local school system also. My mother recieved her GED when I was around 10 yrs old. She was 45 and had only gone through the 9th grade. That was 25 yrs ago though.

It might be hard for you but you can do it. You might check with your local community college (junior college). Lots of them give GED classes FOR FREE to help you. Look in the phone book in the yellow pages under "Education" or "Colleges". There are people there who care and who will be able to help you get ready. Please do not think you are dumb. You are smart enough to want to do something with your life, and setting a goal is a very very good place to start. If you can't find the phone number, call the high school in your town. They will be able to give you the community college phone number too. Good luck.
