Find a vet close by. Go in there and ask for a product to remove the odor. It's based on enzyme activity. I get mine from drsfostersmith.com

if your sons play couch has a zippered cover on it, take that off and wash it in the wash like normal...for the foam buy fabreeze and spray, while still damp stick in a plastic trash bag and stick the hose to vacuum cleaner in the bag, wrap the bag tightly around the vauum hose and turn on...let it suck all of the air out of it and then turn off...that should help remove the smell and it will also make the foam cusion retain it's "brand-new" shape...hope that helps

The enzyme stuff as mentioned above and if that costs too much one of the best odor removers is sunshine. Clean as best you can with any cleaner, rinse well and then set it in the sun to dry.

my daughter has the spongebob couch like you described. I take off the outter cover, then I use "tough n tender" from Melaleuca its a chemical free spray and i slightly mist it over the fabric and gently rub on the cushions and it seems to get the smell out.
