1- He does not sound racist to me, those claims are totally unsubstantiated.
2- If "winning games" was all that mattered, then Kyle Orton would be the best rookie QB in decades. He went 13-3 starting for the Bears last year and was awful, but I'm sure you don't remember that. Winning and losing is a TEAM effort. It's not all on the QB, except maybe in Indianapolis.
But the question is right, VY was a terrible choice for ROY. I'd choose Marcus McNeil, then Marques Colston (both black players, for you racists answering in this thread), and in fact Matt Leinart had a much more valuable rookie year then VY, who struggled mightily in his first three or four games before coming on strong.
Check out the QB value per play data here:

Give Vince Young a chance though. While I agree that Mike Vick's failure to develop is holding the Falcons back, I suspect VY will actually develop into a real quarterback who passes first, and uses his running ability as a tool and not a crutch (then again, Vick looked like a real passer in his first two years with Dan Reeves coaching him). VY clearly was not the ROY, but he sure has collosal potential.

I think you're right and wrong.
Vick is a overrated, worthless QB. He is any random RB, except LT has a better arm. He just waits for an opening and runs. He cant complete passes, and he has no accuracy.
I think Young is different though, I think he falls into category of the scrambling QB like McNabb. People that are good quarterbacks that are made better by being able to buy a few more seconds to throw the ball. I think the change in Romo from Bledsoe in Dallas shows a mobile qb will always be more of a threat than a qb that may be better and stays in the pocket until he throws the ball away or is sacked.

You sound like you have some "agenda" and I'm not interested. All the "hype" Vick has been getting this year has been about 70% negative (and well deserved). And to compare Vince Young with Kyle Orton is just plain stupid.
When he stepped up, the Titans were big time LOSERS. Young turned them into WINNERS! He changed the whole dynamic of the team. THAT'S what most are taking about when they mention his winning record. He's not cruising along on a winning team like a Rex Grossman, HE is actually MAKING IT HAPPEN like a Joe Montana used to do, that's why he deserves the ROY. NOT because he completes a few passes, NOT because he can run around in the backfield, NOT because he can ramble in for a TD or two, but because without him the Titans are total LOSERS and WITH him they are a serious threat to anybody in the league.
Honestly, you need to put down the beer and the crack pipe and actually WATCH a few more games........

Not as much recognition? Turn on ESPN. They talk about Vick and Young more then they talk about Manning, Brady, or Palmer. Vick has had some success and would have had more this year had his receivers caught some balls. I agree that Young didn't deserve the ROY, but he did do a lot with not much talent on offense and won six in a row. Young is too slow to be a running back and Vick is not tough enough.
These guys are Quarterbacks and you are a racist.

I watched Vince Young play live in Buffalo Dec. 24. He was awesome, so I wouldn't say he is overrated, plus he made some good throws too. The Bills are tough against the pass. and Vince 2000 + yards for 12 games isn't that bad for a Rookie.

Thank Randall Cunningham for poisoning coaches minds to favor "mobile" QBs. Gone are the days of Elway and Marino and the true passers and team leaders. Elway did scramble, only b/c his offensive line sucked; thus the 3 SB losses. But, yeah, I agree with you. And what about these fat QBs, like Culpepper and McKnab?

fans just like these players because they are exciting to watch, owners like these players because they bring fans to the stadium and they make more money, regardless of whether they win or not
