I was 25 when I got married.

It is a trade - you trade some freedom for other things. A net win.

I was 20 when I got married and 21 when I got divorced ... !

19, he became the father I never had.
I had to ask permission, show receipts for expenditures, have no friends, no phone calls, no job, be at his every beck and call.
Then when I grew up and he had a heart attack and relied on me for everything it's amazing how fast things can change.

I lost it for a short time when I was 17 then gained it back within a couple of years. That was too young to be in hell.

wow....am I the only girl on here who has absolutely no interest in enslaving my boyfriend (and possibly branding him and chaining him) if we got married? I wouldn't ever want to feel like I lost my freedom, so I don't want him to feel like that ever.

Marriage is hard work. You have to put yourself second to the happiness of your spouse - if you chose wisely though, you have a spouse that puts your happiness ahead of her own in return. I guess if you prefer to be selfish, spend all your money, only care about you, your happiness, your feeling and your future - stay single - you'll be a lot happier!

That is a very sad question!

As a Minister and a happily married woman it is actually offensive.

If this is your honest emotion about the "union" of people, then please do not ever get married. That will result in failure and pain for the other person.
