A f'n MEN!
I am so sick of "Well in my country we blah blah blah" then GO BACK! This is MY United States of America and we do things the AMERICAN way.
I don't why people come here and want us to change instead of adapting themselves....no other country and no other time period would ever consider it.
As for "country built on it" so were the others...but it has been hundreds of years..we have a culture of our own now whether you see it or not (just look, our habits as a society are different from others..makes a culture)..I am ok with people bringing stuff from theirs here and adding to our own but I should not be reading about some stupid twit sueing because we don't have ballots in Vietnamese, or for the right to wear a veil on her drivers liscence
As for racist bigot that is just plain stupid..again I see someone who does not have an intellectual and reasonable leg to stand on using racism to muddy the waters
Turtellshell:: They are both part of the North American continent but they are not referred to as American..they are referred to as Canadian or Mexican and people from United States are called Americans since country's name is United States of America

I do agree with some of these (although some very rude) answers. The United States of America has from it's beginning been a place to welcome all cultures. That is what the Statue of Liberty stands for.
My problem is that we are, as you say, being forced to adapt to every culture that come here. People should be free to come to America and remain who they are and keep their beliefs WITHIN the Laws and Constitution. They should not come here and expect to be catered to and have all laws and customs changed to accommodate them. I would not move to China and then expect all of China to change their laws and customs and culture to accommodate me. If I went to Rome, I would do as the Romans do, and I would imagine that I would be subject to their laws as well.
I am sure this is a heated subject that will no doubt give you some angry answers. I just pray that all that America was founded on and what many men and women have died protecting is not lost for the sake of political correctness or religious differences.
God Bless America!

I think america definately should do something about the imigration, Slow it down, but you have to admit, we put ourselves in this position by putting, " Give me your tired you hungry and your poor" on the statue of liberty.
This is how America was viewed for almost 300 years. A land of oportunity. Where anything is possible. The big Melting Pot.
it's going to take more than a few years to excape that reputation.
Think back to highschool, when you got your rep, how hard is it to change that?
But the culture I will have to disagree with that. We wouldn't have our "american" culture if it weren't for all the outside ones. Look at all our American Traditions, how they incorperate 3 or 4 different societies and culters into one single celebration. I enjoy learning about different countries, I don't have the money to travel, so they bring it to me, and I enjoy learning.

"What if I have been an American male married to a girl from a matriarchal society that recommended reducing off the penis so as that no feeling would desire to be attained AND eliminating the testicles" We already do the 1st 0.5 of this. it is stated as circumcision. extra or less 70% of the nerve endings in a adult males penis are in the foreskin. for this reason I occasion lady genital mutilation when I see those mothers asking approximately circumcision. in case you does not do this terrible portion of your lady, why would you do it on your boy? lady genital mutilation "supposedly" does the comparable issues male genital mutilation does, oh it is cleanser, extra constructive, extra pleasing, much less infections, etc. etc. etc. u . s . a . of america isn't any diverse than different cultures as long as circumcision (RIC) is being practiced with out clean and particular medical reason. Makes me ill, the two way. Genital mutilation is genital mutilation no count the way you attempt to slice it or cover it.

Perhaps you've never traveled then. The western world and culture has had a profound effect on Hong Kong. Some of the most serious problems we have now is the cultural values that are seeping into the Islamic cultures and the hatred of us, because of it.
Or perhaps you mean Native American culture. Certainly everything that's happened since then is from other cultures - England, France, Europe, Ireland, Germany, China, etc.

Lets be real here, there is no "real" american culture.
This isn't happenning in China because it has been inhabited by the chinese for most, if not all of it's existence. If there is any culture in the US, it is that of the American Indian, who did have a culture, but we crushed them and their culture.
So basically you are only here right now because your people did exactly what you are now complaining about, going to someone else's land and expecting your culture to be excepted.
You want to go back the roots of your people, then find out what country they are really from and go there, the culture there probably hasn't changed much.

What, are you afraid there will be no hamburger joints left if all these Asians keep moving here? Is there some threat that blue jeans will become passé if people from India bring their saris with them? Perhaps you just feel threatened by diversity. That's a sign of paranoia and closed-mindedness, my friend.
In short, there is no single, uniform "American culture." America is a blend of many cultures, both ethnic and regional.
And incidentally, China is inhabited by several different tribes or ethnicities, each with varying customs and even languages. They just all look the same to you because you don't know any better.

American culture has been changing ever since Christopher Columbus landed in 1492. The American Indian is the original American culture. I assume that you mean white culture. Since it is the white man that has allowed this to occur, then we have no justifiable complaint.

Those immigrants who come here legaly, for the most part, are seeking what we have and do not want to change it.... the ones now who are coming illigaly are only interested in what they can get. and there is clear evidence that very many are being incouraged to come in a deliberate attempt by the "governments" to the south to undermine and weaken this country.. and by Mexico to try to take over the south west.... The islamies are clearly trying to weaken this country by flooding with so-called immigrants.......
When the boat people came here they did not really want to stay. They had hope that one day they could return to their homes... but when that hope faded they intigrated into American society, for the most part. and their children did so fully. At the insistance of the parents.... These who come now and even refuse to learn the language are in fact our enemies... they should be kicked out and kept out ...by any means... it is ltteraly a war for our survival...and we are losing...

Uh...you *are* aware that this country was made up by immigrants, right? Does the phrase "great American melting pot" sound vaguely familiar??? If you want "real" American culture back, you need to find a way to bring back the native tribes we wiped out.
