My friend is christian and has an 11 year old son. How can he prevent him from masturbation? And also his 9 year old sister?
Any ideas how the kids can learn fast not to masturbate themselves?

oh, I forgot to say that my friend is a real (=fundamental) christian who trusts 100% in the bible.

Nope. Kids are going to do what they are going to do and masturbation comes natural. I have tried to teach my kids not to obsess about sex and reasons why it isn't good to do that sort of thing all the time.

I have bought books from some very conservative Christian authors that address the subject. These are books geared to different age kids and are intended for the kids to read to help them learn about sex. The books do not make a point of saying masturbation is bad but do talk about what I said in terms of not obsessing about sex.

The best your friend will be able to do is to talk to his kids about it. But I can tell you right now that I can GUARANTEE you it will backfire. Kids are naturally curious about the forbidden. So if you friend tells his kids not to do it, they'll just be more turned on by the idea of masturbating. It doesn't matter how much he demonizes the act, the kid is still going to find some way and somewhere to do it. MOST kids masturbate, it's a fact of life. And I'll bet you $150 that your friend did it when he was young too.

Unfortunately, it's natural and socially acceptable, so you're not likely to find much support for that endeavor. It's simply a very common activity among children. Among anyone, really. It's not going to harm them. What will harm them, though, is if they are told it's "dirty". You don't want them to be constantly feeling shame. I am a christian mother and I can tell you that masturbation is a natural thing and to try and stop them is not good. They need to know appropriate places to do it . For example in their rooms by themselves. they will do this with or without your "help" everyone has. and it will continue. Just be sure they are not being touched by someone else or being molested by someone. at the age they are at it is natural and will only increase with puberty. do not make them feel "Dirty" or tell them they will "Go to Hell" if they do this They are at the age they need to be told about the "birds and the bees" anyway this is a good time to sit and teach them about it.... perfect opportunity!

Why would you ever prevent this? By trying to prevent masturbation you create shame which carries over into their adult marital sex life. As a masturbating Christian, our Good Lord gave us things to help us enjoy life, including, yep, our genitals which are full of nerve endings . . .If all else fails, tell them to do it in the privacy of their own room and to not get caught because their father is uptight!

Why would you want to stop it?

It's perfectly normal and healthy. If you try and prevent it, he'll probably do it twice as much, because you said not too.

And if he does somehow listen he'll probably get all hormonal and go crazy. Not literally, but he'll def have mood swings and such.
