Professional. The ones that you buy for homes are not commercial strength and therefore do not do a professional job. I have had both. After years of spending 400/yr on a professional I thought I would spend 200 and buy a home unit. Great I thought only I found myself having to do them ever 4 months or so. Plus I had move the furniture and the chemicals that you buy for them are expensive and don't dry as fast and factor in the time it took me it just wasn't worth it and I gave it to a friend. We then got hard wood floors and now only get the bedrooms and staircase done once a year. I use Citrus-O and they use all natural orange based products and for 300 they do 4 bedrooms, a hallway and the staircase. Well worth it.

I recently purchased a VAX Rapide Upright cleaner after using an older type VAX cleaner. It is an amazing carpet cleaner, cleans way down and leaves the carpet nearly dry, and the cleanliness is exceptional.

Hi, we have got one of those vax carpet cleaners that are suppose to be as good as the professional cleaners. But I dont think it is that good, i mean they dont get the carpet really clean. We did have a vax one of the old models and that worked better. I ended up using good old 1001 and a brand new soft sweeping brush and the carpet was spotless and looked as good as new. and gave me a good work out.

Although Kirby works really well to suck the dirt out of carpets, it is pretty much a tank. It's heavy, bulky, and doesn't do well with corners. I purchased one 3 years ago and wish I would have looked further into a Dyson. If they have attachments that can get into corners then you're golden. I know they are not nearly as bulky and have just as good sucking action.

I recommend the rug doctor. My sister and I use them faithfully. We both have pets and have used different brands, and the RD is the best.
If you add a small amount of your favorite fabric softner to the cleaning solution, you cut down on suds build up and the house smells fantastic.
Lots o luck.

Kirby. They did a demo in our home and I've been wanting to get one since then. It was a $2000 cleaner, but it lasts for years and it actually cleans. You can even vacuum your mattress! Oh, when I hit the lotto... :)

Kirby. Very pricey, but well worth the money. I have owned one for 12 years. Still going strong. Hope that helps.

Best carpet cleaner...well my advice is get your partner to do it, they are by far the best carpet cleaners as you are then not having to do it!
