There is a person who is supposed to be in Africa sending me emails and I am wondering if he is legitimately sending them from that point or from here in the USA. I don't want to be led into a scam as I already wired $200 to him for a dog and now he is wanting the rest before we agreed. Does this sould fishy?

One of the daily talk shows actually interviewed a women that was in "love" with the person she was corresponding too. He had send her a picture of himself. The picture was a white man and he had a Nigerian accent. The show hired an investigator and found out the the picture was of a model in Hawaii.

The origin an an email is meaningless since anyone in the world can get an email address from the US and log on to the mail site.

It is definitely a well known scam, as a matter of fact this scam was profiled on 60 Minutes a while back. Several people get a emails about a person in Africa with their same last name who needs to their help to claim money and all that crap.

Don't send any more money or any personal info!!

It does indeed sound like a scam. If you wired it from your bank account you should let you bank know NOW. drop everything don't read anymore and go let your bank know. Otherwise every penny in your account will be gone.
