I am with BT broadband and over the last few days their are times when I can't connect to the internet, i phone them up and they take half an hour to answer, if at all, then put me through to a call centre in India, who refuse to admit there is anything wrong with the BT line but i know their must be as I have tested all my equipment and it is fine. Does anyone else have this problem? It is so frustrating!

Sometimes they do "maintenance" to the line and for this they don't have to give a refund unless your service is out for 24 hours!

Another possible reason is that at peak hours (i.e. when loads of other BT users are trying to connect) the network can't cope and handle the amount of people, so you will have to keep try connecting and hope for the best!

Also if this just happened in the past few days, it could be a new program or hardware installation interfering, but i doubt that.

I'm with pipex and have had no end of problems! Dropping the connection every time the phone rings, going off every couple of hours and sometimes having to wait two or three hours before it even finds the signal. Been on to them about 20 times then eventually they tell me bt will come out.they then come and everythings fine as i knew because i'd rewired the whole lot.Nevertheless its still the same and i'm convinced theres no customer service from any company out there inc bt gas norweb orange t mobile o2 council etc etc

How does it fail? Do you have a wireless connection through this Broadband. Many people with piggie back your wireless connection and can use all your bandwidth. If that is the case, secure your wireless connection. Also, check your modem for lights. Are any DSL/cable lights blinking? If so, it is an issues with the hardware or the service. Otherwise, it may be something on your end. good luck...

I get it all the time with my telewest broadband so it's not just BT. The last time it was off for over a week which I was very miffed about and of course the helplines were far from that. They tried to make out it was my fault after I had done everything they told me,in the end I got my computer whizz brother to come round and test my connection with his laptop, turned out it was a problem with them and I was refunded for the time I was offline. Don't let them feed you any bull!

Yeah I've had this problem too. Its a pain especially as the call centre is in India. However the longest my BT broadband has been unavailable is 10 hours and most of that happened to be overnight. I've had no problems over Christmas and new year when i expected the network to be busy.

Yes that happens a little with Talk Talk, its only for a little while, usualy its up within 1hour, or mostly its down in the night so it does not affect me too much. I just notice the next morning the connection light has gone of my modem. All you have to do is switch the modem off from the mains for a little while then switch it back on and its usualy up and running!!

At some time or another your Internet connection will fail. So will your electricity and cable. Be patient; it will come back.
