No because the UN is in the control of third world dictators who promote greed and personal wealth and some of the money comes the US stipend that we pay to support the UN (though we have been withholding it I think). Iraq would have been a good place for the UN to send a peacekeeping force as soon as the US deposed Saddam. But nope! The UN is worthless and fails because so many goverments are not democracies where the people can approve or disapprove of their leader's conduct. Libya is the chair of the human rights commission in the UN. Think about that!

Well North Korea has already nuclear weapons, and as for Iran...there is absolutely no proof that they are developing any nuclear weapons. They are not a danger right now and we definitely don't have to find imaginary reason to attack any of them,as it happened with Iraq.US has created to much chaos in the region,so it wouldn't need another conflict...Iran is respecting the UN laws,it has signed the NNPT,it allowed inspectors to visit its nuclear facilities,so they are not doing anything illegal right now...
UN should start focusing on real things, like forcing the countries who don't respect its resolutions, to apply them and should focus more on Africa,'cos there are real problems...but unfortunately it seems it's a way too poor region to bother with it...

The long and the short of it is, no. The United Nations has failed to prevent or stop any war. The UN was great dream. Sadly, it has failed to live up to that dream. Perhaps it is time to end the US funding for the UN and ask them to relocate somewhere else.

I hate to say this, but the United Nations has lost much of its clout soon after the 'Cold War' ended.
Its decisions can only be carried out and enforced by the might of the current Superpowers.

the UN can try and have Civil Negotians with them, maybe a solution will be found. A good dialogue is allways better than an invasion.
