97-62 at Minnesota, not a bad record, he is a good coach with a great offensive mind. he was also a successful college coach before.
the better question is "the Arizona cardinals, one of the worst franchises ever. Why are they still around?"

Definitely one of the worst coaches ever! And don't give me the crap about his record at Minnesota, while he was there the Vikings were one of the most talented teams in the NFL several years running and look where they went - NOWHERE!
You want to marvel at regular season records, just look at the coach with the winningest record in NFL history, Marty Schottenheimer. He has NEVER even won a Conference Championship and he has NEVER been to a SB in his life (except as a spectator!) He is "one and out" almost every single season he has made the playoffs with three different teams! (This year he will go two and out because the Chargers are just too talented to self destruct right at the beginning!)
Dennis Green is so much worse than even Schottenheimer and that is saying a lot........
(And by the way, check the sports news, he ISN'T still around......)

In Minnie, he was brilliant in the regular season, but a flake in the postseason. Those same Vikings teams who were always frontrunners from September to December folded once the playoffs started, often in spectacular fashion. Denny Green has never been a good coach, and he's been coaching like it's the playoffs ever since he got to Arizona. The Cards are right to fire him. If the example of the Saints and Sean Payton have taught us anything, it may not be easy to erase a losing culture, but it needn't take long...

He was a good coach in Minnesota. Nine playoff appearances in 10 years with three different QBs...that says a lot.
He deserved to be fired this year, though. There is too much talent on the Cardinals team for them to have not contended this season -- especially in the NFC Worst division.

He shouldn't still be around--but for a reason that hasn't been mentioned here so far. After his ridiculous training camp regimen led to the death of Korey Stringer, he should have been booted out of the league, and perhaps charged with manslaughter...
