AP) In what has become an annual tradition of prognostications, religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Tuesday God has told him that a terrorist attack on the United States would result in “mass killing” late in 2007.

“I'm not necessarily saying it's going to be nuclear,” he said during his news-and-talk television show “The 700 Club” on the Christian Broadcasting Network. “The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that.”

Robertson said God told him during a recent prayer retreat that major cities and possibly millions of people will be affected by the attack, which should take place sometime after September.

Robertson said God also told him that the U.S. only feigns friendship with Israel and that U.S. policies are pushing Israel toward “national suicide.”

Robertson suggested in January 2006 that God punished then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a stroke for ceding Israeli-controlled land to the Palestinians.

The broadcaster predicted in January 2004 that President Bush would easily win re-election. Bush won 51 percent of the vote that fall, beating Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.

In 2005, Robertson predicted that Bush would have victory after victory in his second term. He said Social Security reform proposals would be approved and Bush would nominate conservative judges to federal courts.

Lawmakers confirmed Bush's 2005 nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. But the president's Social Security initiative was stalled.

“I have a relatively good track record,” he said. “Sometimes I miss.”

In May, Robertson said God told him that storms and possibly a tsunami were to crash into America's coastline in 2006. Even though the U.S. was not hit with a tsunami, Robertson on Tuesday cited last spring's heavy rains and flooding in New England as partly fulfilling the prediction.

After the initial shock subsided, I felt sadness for the man and grave concern for those who would speak in support of his 'pronouncements'.

Some sorely needed, lifesaving, benefit can result if the country is led into a forthright discussion of the importance of mental health. Where the media coverage leads; too many, lazily and gleefuly, follow.

This issue is important to millions of individuals and their families, who suffer from mental illnesses, as well as, the stigma surrounding most emotional injuries and brain disorders.

Love his 9/11 quote

JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters - the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats--what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact--if, in fact--God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, yes.

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

JERRY FALWELL: Pat, did you notice yesterday the ACLU, and all the Christ-haters, People For the American Way, NOW, etc. were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress as they went out on the steps and called out on to God in prayer and sang "God Bless America" and said "let the ACLU be hanged"? In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time--calling upon God.

PAT ROBERTSON: Amen

GOD said beware of false prophets. I think you need to take a good look at Pat Robertson. Here is a man claiming to be the messenger of GOD and we all know that Jesus was the last true messenger GOD sent. Nostradomis tried to predict the end of the world and failed. Of course, he tried to say it would happen five different times. You need to read revelations in the bible so you will know when GOD is coming. No human man is going to be the one with the announcement. Thank you and GOD bless.

Guys like Robertson are the American example of radical religion. Islamic clerics, pedophile priests and radical right wingers like Robertson tend to make me believe that religion is in the hands of the "devil". Think about that. What if the evil force, a/k/a Satan, decided that the best way to keep people from God was to create organized religion where evil, venal, greedy, power hungry men could direct people away from God and toward doing the work of these fake idols. Yeah, it works for me. Pat and the boys are the Devil, not the path to God.

My question is whilst did the media go from reporting the information to be u . s . a . of america's entertainment community. Did they think of that we are starting to be so stupid to deliver together the info, make a determination and then act upon our convictions. i'm reasonable Democrat/self sustaining and love watching bill O'Reilly. i individually think of he's like maximum individuals, opinionated on the factors he needs to make and keen to take heed to others. i do no longer consider him for all time and he would probable do the akin to me. Sean Hannity and Glen Beck on the different hand are haters, purely approximately in the KKK mould. they are long in describing what's incorrect and short in giving recommendations. My mama had a asserting on our refrigerator whilst i grew to become into growing to be up, "you're the two portion of the concern or portion of the answer" people who're portion of the concern are people who whine and people who're portion of the answer are those keen to compromise! as much as now neither the Republicans or the Democrats fall in the later group.

Gosh predictions directly from GOD!

It seems these days, eveyone (regardless of faith) is being directed and talking to God!

Well its a nice dellusion, but God operates on a Universal scale, and probably doesn't get involved in too many personal one on one chats.

Since the truth of these claims can't be proven...we don't know for sure if Pat is talking to God or himself, but we have to ask...

If God has universal knowledge, then surely God's accuracy in predicting the future, especially for one year and one nation would be better.

I might as well turn on "Medium", she seems accurate all the time, with the magic of TV and post production...

Hmm that's is what Pat needs..post production...

Oh, brother!

I personally don't put much stock in people that claim to get predictions directly from God.

The book of Revelation, Daniel, Matthew 24, and Isaiah gives enough prophecy of the end times without somebody coming along pretending to give a blow-by-blow account of annual happenings - especially in politics, where actions can usually predict later results.

It doesn't take God to tell me that we will face another terrorist attack. It is a question of when and how bad.

Will it be New York again, or LA? Anyone willing to bet their 2 cents?

I think he should be put on a terrorist watch list.

It sounds like he has acess to information about a terrorist attack. Since the claim that "god told me so" won't be a valid defence in court. he should be arrested, and interrogated as a terrorist as the only logical way he could have come across such information is if he was in league with them.
