Trust me---I thought I had the worst case of the flu EVER. The symptoms were exactly the same. I hadn't missed my period yet, but my mother took one look at me and said--"I don't think this is the flu--take a pregnancy test." She was right.

I seriously thought I had the flu before I found out I was in fact pregnant. Part of that though was because my daughter had just gotten over the flu and usually I get sick with most of what she does. Also, after 3 years of TTC I started to think I wouldn't get pregnant again - so the flu was the only thing I could think of. Until I realized I was over a week late getting my period.

Every woman is different. The only sure way to know that you are pregnant is if you miss your period. Some women feel no sickness and other women feel horrible form day one. It is not so much that women feel like they have the flu, but it is that they feel sick. I always feel like I am getting a cold around the time of my period....lack of blood equals aneima equals sickness. If you really are pregnant, then your body is trying its best to deal with new changes. Good luck!

Sometimes if the woman isn't planning a pregnancy it may not cross her mind until after some time.
