Around one-third of Pompeii is unexcavated and I believe will remain so for the time being. The efforts are being put into further excavation at Herculaneum, much of which has to be underground as, unlike Pompeii, it is not a green field site and most of the ancient city has been covered by later buildings

And to the first answerer - I have been to Pompeii and it is really cool!!!

I dont know about any new excavations, I hope so.
