My computer has been running extremely slowly and freezing up often. I have Internet Explorer 7 and an emachines computer. My antivirus (Verizon Yahoo) detects nothing but I believe it is missing something. I also use registry mechanic which, while removing some malicious software, has not detected anything. I scanned the computer with another service which said I had a Trojan virus but it also wanted me to pay $49.50 for cleanup. I already pay for Verizon Yahoo and Registry Mechanic and simply cannot afford another service. When I call Verizon they are extremely unhelpful and blame IE, when I write IE I am told to call emachines or Verizon, and when I call emachines I encounter people telling me to call everyone else because it's not "their" fault. Some help would be so appreciated. My Windows Media will not work, whenever I attempt to shut down I am told "explorer.exe" or "napster.exe" or "morpheus.exe" are running and I have to shut down manually. Thing is, I haven't had Morpheus

in years. There are also a number of other programs that seem to be "running" all the time, not just music-related ones. Is there any way to end these (clicking "End Program" doesn't do much at all) and get rid of whatever is currently occupying my system? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your computer is infected. I would highly recommend cleaning it up ASAP!
You need 2 main programs to do this.
1. Download Avast anti-virus and run it to search your entire computer. This program is free and it works great! Here is the link to download it. http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10602417.html?tag=lst-0-1
2. Download Ad-Aware, this program is great for finding "junk" left on your computer by surfing the web. You can download this free program here: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1

These 2 programs should completely clean up your computer. Good Luck!!

I'm not a big computer geek or anything. But I use AVG free virus software. Go to Google and search for Griftsoft.com and download the free virus software. I had a small trojan and it captured it and put it in jail and it's still in there because I can see it behind bars. The guy that put my computer together had put Panda Virus on here and it was so large it was using to much memory so I erased it and use only the AVG virus ware. Try it-like I said I'm not a pro but it works.
