Well, I don't speak their language, but going by the news reports by AP and Reuters, he was 'responding' to the taunts of the executioners and guards, then he started to recite some kind of poem or caption, probably from the Koran.
The floor dropped from under him halfway through the second verse, and his last word was 'Muhammad'.

According to the news, he was praying. I have seen the video, and there are too many other people talking to hear him clearly. But, he did not appear to be taunting anyone. His face was downcast and he looked very pale. Also, the officials who were there said that he was praying, preparing for death.
As for the taunting, the officials there said that there were people taunting Saddam. I am assuming that whoever the jerk was who taped the execution was probably one of them. I think that Saddam was a very bad man, who had to face the consequences of his actions. But, he deserved to die with a little bit of dignity. It shouldn't have been aired on the web and shown on tv over and over. By doing that, we are no better than he was.

in fact, they were taunting HIM. i read this in the news. no way will i watch the video. they were calling out a name associated to the country leader who ordered his execution to be done quicker.
