PROS: Better technology, new knowledge.
CONS: Bush would declare them to be terrorists, and try to start a war to steal what ever the heck it is they have.
Either way, Bush gets to be an A'Hole again.

And how do they do this? What evidence do you have? And why do they hide? It is always the case that these aliens only appear to people no one would ever believe because of mental imbalances or other serious issues. Not the act of an intelligent being. To visit, they would have to defy the laws of physics or they would all be very old by the time they arrived. And why would they bother to come here, especially if they were intelligent enough to overcome the difficulties, actually the impossibilities, of space travel across millions of light years? And what sort of life forms would they be. Life as we know it has only been possible for a limited time and so these aliens would have had to fast track evolution. Or be some complete foreign life form. Maybe that acne on your face is actually an alien!

People would become alarmed and stop shopping, so Big Business would not like it. Also they would trust our government even less, so you won't find the government on board with this, for both of those reasons.
After reading thru the other answers, I agree, people would begin to question organized religion, as well they should.

it would be a while before the fanatics that think they are something special get over there self-importance. people like my self see no reason why there shouldent be other life forms out there that think. but then compared to us how do they think

fear, panic, religious doubt, having to reconcile your religion with the fact that there are aliens, people bothering the aliens, millions wanting to talk to them etc.
