Which city or town?
How do you like it? (In other words, isn't Texas really the greatest country on earth?)
What do you like about it?

Me: Austin; I love it; the people, eclectic music, weird shops, beautiful hill country, yet so close to other unique cities in Texas.

I am ~~*** Texan *** ~~ and I am proud to be one.

I am from Arlington, 25 miles from Dallas. Texas is the greatest place to be at. Nice mexican food, long open fields and carefree attitude of people. Everybody just enjoys and does not bother you in any way by poking their noses in your matter. People with pride but helpful nature. Just one of its kind on earth. The most important thing is, I found the girl of my dreams here. She is most precious to me and now so is this place.

I love Dallas (I live there now) because it has a little bit of everything in it... Houston is terrible... don't live there at all... I would highly recommend checking out San Marcos which is about 45 min. south of Austin and bout the same North of San Antonio... it has great places to swim and tube with the guadalupe river and the comal close by and Schiltterbahn and Six Flags Fiesta World or something like is that not too far away... The clubbing scene down 6th street in Austin is one of the greatest in the nation... I could go on, but I don't know what you are looking for... Texas is a place for everyone :)

I lived in West Texas, McCamey when I was just 14 yrs old. It was only for 3 months but have been back to visit.

Now, I have went to over 20 different schools in 9 different states.

Some I have little memory of but Texas is among my favorite.

The people were super friendly and always waving at each other, the roads so straight any kid could learn to drive.. teehee. They let school out so the kids could see the snow flakes.. none stuck on the ground but school was out...

They had dress up day on Fridays.

The girls were super athletic and played with more vigor than Northern girls.. we were pansys up north... hee hee

West Texas has sand storms but the scenery was unbelievably unforgettable. Driving in the oil fields then up to the top of a rocky plateau ... getting out of the car and becoming absolutely enthralled with the glory of looking over Gods creation... could not believe how "flat" the top was either.

Got to view the Pecos River from the top of a plateau also.. it was great. I was thinking about Yosemite Sam

WOW... thanks for bringing back this memory..
WoW I Love It

Nope, live in Kentucky, but will be moving to central TX b/t mid-2008 and early 2009. I love Texas because of the warm climate (except for the dog days of summer,) the warmer people, art museums, eclectic music, diverse scenery, and, though stereotypical, all the cowboy hats and trucks.

Just one thing I don't like: Dallas County. I can do w/o it. The rest of the state is great.

I lived in Houston for about three months in the early '90s. I remember driving was a nightmare.

At the time there was no space on the side of the highway to pull over. When cops pulled someone over they blocked a lane of traffic.

Texas was behind the times with tabs on can drinks that still pulled off and got discarded wherever ... They had gone out of fashion 25-30 years before in California.

I really didn't care for Houston much.

It was kinda hard to replace the expression "you-all" though.

Moved to Texas back when I was in the 5th grade... lived in Del Rio until high school graduation... Texas A&M for undergrad in College Station (whoop!), St. Mary's university in San Antonio for grad... stayed in San Antonio until last year when I had to move to AZ :( So about 24 years in Texas.

I loved being in SA because it was a big city, but really didn't have that big city feel with all the traffic, crime, etc... it was really a blue collar city. If you wanted to travel to the other big cities, Austin was right up the road, and Houston and DFW were just a few hours away.

Over here in AZ, cost of living, especially housing is more expensive... for the same square footage, housing costs are about 3x what they were in SA. You could rent a good 2 bedroom apt in SA for 5-600$, and here that's the going rate for an efficiency/ 1 bedroom. People here tend to be a bit more stuck up as far as judging people based on what they own, what they drive, and how much money they make than being back in SA. The state income tax over here doesn't help either.

I'm out in a 'burb of Phoenix, and I feel out of my element out here, because most of the area out here is for retirees... it's wierd seeing golf cart shops and people using them as regular vehicles to get back and forth, and I feel massively underaged at 35 going out to most places.

But, I miss Texas, and I'll end up moving back there in a year or two... I wasn't born there, but I ended up being a Texan regardless. It's all about the attitude :)

Yepper, born and breed in Corpus Christi. I miss the food there, the people, the pride of being Texans. I miss the beach and fishing, I love fishing back home. I live in California now. It's nice. I carry my head high and look everyone in the eye and can get meaner than a skillet full of rattlesnakes if someone bad mouths Texas or the United States for that matter.

Lived in Dallas and it's suburbs for 35 years (except for my summers when I was a kid, those were spent on a cattle ranch outside of Abilene)...never thought I wanted to leave, then work brought me to Austin, and I wish I had gotten here sooner. I did love Dallas, but the people in Austin are just soooo much friendlier, and the pace of life just seems a bit calmer than Big D.

And yes...it is the greatest country on earth!!!

I live in Austin as well. Lived here for 25 years. It upsets me to see that others have such a bad image of us. We aren't all egotistical rednecks. I think I have ridden a horse one time and have never owned or shot a gun. I don't live on a farm or own any livestock. Shouldn't be so close minded, Austin is a great place for live music and eccentric people.
