One of the head light bulbs on my car blow and my b/f said I have to change both of them. This doesn't make sense to me because now they might both go at the same time and I would be screwed if it happened at night. Who is right !?

I just wait for them to burn out one at a time. They tell you that at the auto parts store so they can sell you more parts. The headlight manufacturers say the same thing - just to sell more parts.

But, if you are driving at night with only one headlight, a ticket could be much more expensive than a headlight.

Even if you replaced both at the same time, it would be an extremely unlikely event to have them both burn out on the same night.

For those halogen capsules, don't touch the glass. If you do, clean it off with a clean cloth and alcohol. The oils from your finger will cause a hot spot and the glass will crack and fail prematurely. Be sure to seat the capsule completely before installing the lock ring. (There's a rubber o ring on the base of the replacement bulb that keeps water out.)
