Oh boo hoo. Personally I can spare 66p a year to ensure Britain retains it's history and tradition that gives it so much appeal around the world. What would we have without it? Come and see where the Beckhams decide to grace us with their presence for a month a year? Not exactly the same is it? Even if you pay a tenner a year, you evidently can spare that too. You probably 5 times that much in alcohol every week. (Or at least most people do.) Give Britain some hope will you?

I like to think of it as quiet money, but they should have to honor their end by staying out of future politics. Also, we should continue to honor and preserve the office of the President of the United States, regardless of whether we agree with who was in the chair... So Clinton's a primadonna? Big surprise there... If Hilary gets elected, do they then both get their own pension packages and own Secret Service details? Maybe we could save some money by combining them... on second thought, the meager savings wouldn't be worth the election of the anti-Christ...

The National-Union feels if the country is 2/3 supportive of a two-term U.S. President thereafter in each election-year then the cost would be substantially low because confidence builds up the economy creating surpluses and jobs, http://www.voteprimous.com

It depends on the ex president and how much he wants to "game the system" at the expense of the taxpayer.
One of the things that the taxpayer provides our ex-presidents with is "office space". Most of our ex-presidents are content with a modest office. However, that jackass Clinton felt he was entitled to an entire office building in New York City.
We also provide ongoing secret service security. As you can imagine security for an entire office building in a major metropolitan area costs a bit.

A lot more than it should and they even continue to get Secret Service protection and their families, until they kick the bucket. And of course us tax payers pay for it. I think to cut cost, they should use contract security guards to protect the ex people.

Less than it used to. Former presidents used to get lifetime secret service protection. Now it's limited to 10 years.

So THAT's why we pay them so little! The security costs. And here I thought it was just a plot to make sure that only rich people could become president.

to much. when they are out of office they should not get any more of our money. if we didn't have to support all of the ex or retired politicians we could save tons of money
