What's a Loose War?

2007-01-03 04:39:54 · answer #1 · answered by kristonianinstitution 4 · 17 6

Well explain the difference between a loose war and a tight one and maybe someone will explain, why the Americans chose to fight unwinnable wars.
I don’t "know" why the Americans and Allies chose to fight in Iraq, Speculation suggests it may have something to do with oil, but I would say that only history will actually answer that .
As to why the Americans went to Vietnam, well you have to yet again go back to the history books to answer that, one of the main reasons they went to war was to aid the French.
For, as much as Americans tell you that they hate the French, if it hadn’t been for the French then the Americans wouldn't have won the War of Independence against Britain.
So the Americans actually owed them. One of the reasons the Americans got beaten so badly in Vietnam, was, because in the most part they were fighting in a manner that they had never come across before, they were not used to people who came out attacked them and then vanished, so they( the Americans) were always lagging behind. also supply lines were almost continually compromised and there are various other reasons but those are the main ones.
It is essentially unfair to ask do the Americans like to lose wars, The American people from what I can see would be very happy if the US government pulled all their troops out of these areas and declined to fight any more wars.
So the real question you should be asking is why the American Government ignores the wishes of the majority of the people and made the choice to go to war. If you want the answer to that I suggest you go and ask Congress.
Ps no I'm not an American.

There you go annoying the Yanks ! My, what a reaction you've received thus far! Well done. Though the American public didn't actually make the decision to go to war with so many countries and stick their noses into other countries business thereby leading to even more political instability in the world, it WAS THEIR decision to elect the presiding government at that time - therefore all Amercians should face the consequences including the general negative feeling most of the world harbours towards Americans. I don't think they LIKE to lose wars but simply have this arrogant raging bull attitude and enter into battles they cannot always win.

The Americans have never won a war against proper opposition the only wars they have "won" have been the invasion of Grenada which has an armed force of around 20 policemen and against those well known fighters the Spanish in the 1800's.

Americans had nothing to do with either of these wars other than dieing in them for the politicians/government. G.W. in his present war would have gone to Viet-Nam had his daddy not bought him out of going and unlike the present war the National Guard would be home, not abroad. So, no losing wars are not what we want it is the unintentional and bad decisions of the American Government.

The war in Iraq isn't "lost" because it isn't over yet... and before you ask a question trying to be a smarta$$ use spell check.

And you obviously don’t know how many wars we participated in.

American Revolutionary War, 1775 – 1783
Quasi-War, 1798 – 1800
First Barbary War, 1801 – 1805
War of 1812, June 4, 1812 – February 13, 1815
Second Barbary War, 1815
Mexican-American War, 1846 – 1848
American Civil War, 1861 – 1865
Spanish-American War, 1898
World War I, 1917 – 1918
World War II, 1941 – 1945
Cold War, 1947 – 1991
Gulf War, 1991 – 1992
War on Terror, 2001 – present

AND OMGosh we "loosed" one!!! I can't beleive it!
Do some research, before you open your mouth go read a history book.

way too long a query. yet, I do want to declare that I surely have puzzled if we've become apathetic and the place our national satisfaction is. yet, it somewhat is better than that. it somewhat isn't any longer approximately satisfaction right here, it somewhat is approximately our very lives being at stake. do no longer human beings get this? i grew to become into aggravated with Obama, however I ought to admit (this is unquestionably huge for me relating to him) that I believe sending the troupes and a few of what he had to declare. What i grew to become into aggravated with is the go out approach element. incorrect selection. stay till the job is complete, era. think back issues at 3 month durations and don't provide a timetable.

War is a business. Big Money profits - whether we win or lose - and our government is controlled by Big Money, while feeding us the lie that we are a 'democracy' controlled by the people. Blind allegiance to consumerism unfortunately distracts many Americans from giving a cr@p about the direction this country is going in. Greed is the flavor of the day, and its obviously a popular one.

You have a short memory but the question is not without some merit.

No, Americans don't like to "lose" wars, in fact we don't like to fight them.

Unfortunately, today the political leadership of America, who we as Americans are guilty of electing, don't have the fortitude, integrity, or common decency to support a decision made and the troops sent to do a job.

Good bad or otherwise the decission was made to put our troops in harms way. Since then the political controversy, compounded by the media's quest for sensation, has forced policy that has tied the hands of the known most powerful fighting force on the planet.

No we don't like to lose wars but it does appear that in this day, we don't have the balls, at least at the policy level, to win them.

i guess you meant to say lose a war? Well I see it like this, If a war is a war, you can't half way fight a war, in Korea, it was half way fought, in Nam it was half way fought. In Iraq it's being half way fought. In world WW ll, we had a strong leader, stronger men, and we didn't half way fight that war, we won. If you invade a nation, send enough troops and artillery to get the job done in a fast way. What do you expect with an idiot like Georgie boy in the oval office?

After WWII, Americans thought they were the masters of the planet. They figured they were more powerful and better than anyone else. This sad image has remained in the minds of Americans up until the present day and has gotten the US involved in a number of wars that it had no business getting into.

When Americans realize that the US is not the best country nor the freest country in the world, they will stop being the aggressor. When Americans realize that not everyone wants to be American, the world will be better off.
