Instructors!! Exasperating!
They talk like every one of their personal preferences is the ONLY way anything should be done.
People who are really "into" whatever is their thing. I find they get pushy with their ideas.
Start now with learning what is "your preference" and enjoy yourself. Whatever it is to do with, just please yourself first and foremost. People will always be asserting what's best.
Gosh, they don't know what's best for YOU!
I'm too independent by far. But really! Wranglers or Levis??
Some of my best horseback riding was done in my old, stained, chewed up stretch pants of some sort. That way I didn't have to worry over getting them messed up.
Have fun riding! Now disregard all of this and do what the heck you want.

To be honest I would ride in whatever feels most comfortable, my friend always wears Wranglers and loves them. The clothing isn't going to make your riding any better (well maybe sticky bum jods help at times ha!) so i'd wear what you feel you can be most effective in.
You get people that ride well regardless of horse or clothing and people that just worry about what they're sitting on and wearing and hope it makes their riding looking better! Keep the Wranglers if thats what you've got!
It was a weird thing to tell you, I hope you got more for your money than that as lessons don't come cheap do they!!

Well, well, well, the age old question on what jean is better to ride in. The choice it totally yours, I have heard that more stretch in the material is the most important, however looking at the difference between Wrangler and all others jeans comes down to one point. The seam on the inside of the leg on a Wrangler actually is flat, whereas most or all other jeans have a rolled seam. That rolled seam can actually be uncomfortable and pinch, whereas the flat seam will not. Once again the choice is personal, but that is the difference, that Wrangler appears to have been made more for riding than all others.

wear a bikini if you want--what ever kind of jeans you wear are the real riding jeans. levi's were developed first, in history, however--if you need to wear exactly what the original american cowboy wore--look up history of the american cowboy and the history of levys an dthe history of wrangler jeans.
if you really want to ride a horse, wear what you are comfortable wearing--any heavy duty leg covering will work. a long split skirt will work, if you are female. riding is not deopendent on clothing.
if your riding insructor had said you can only ride in gucci, would you go out and buy a full gucci wardrobe just for riding????
?????
during my instruction, we were told to wear good heavy leg covering pants--jeans, long corduroy, long and sturdy.
brand and style are irrelevant unless they are restrictive of movement.
if my riding instructor had been so superficial as to demand or suggest a specific brand of legwear, she would not have been our riding instructress for long. it is more important to learn to ride rather than be a fashion showcase. fashionable riders look sooo funny when they are de-horsed.

Its your preference but if you were to ask me there is noway I would recommend Levi's for the seam and the seam in the crotch area. If you sit deep and use your seat alot for body control of your horse your crotch is gonna feel that seam. I prefer cruel girls or wrangler 20x. Riding jeans have flat seams and the jeam material is usually thinner for more flexibility and less friction if fitted properly. Sounds like your instructor needs a make over for the equistrian.

It's something to do with the seam on the inner thigh - but I agree I always thought wranglers were meant to be more comfortable for people who ride in jeans. Personally, I always wear breeches & long leather boots but thats because I do dressage.

i have never heard so much b.s in yrs!
i had horses as a child, so many yrs experience! Quite honestly, i used to find i could ride in any trousers as i was a very experienced fit rider! however i presume as you have an instructor that you are not! Wear what you are comfortable in, a good idea for the less experienced is a material like denim or cord, that gives you a better grip! denim is surely denim!! doesn't matter who makes them the friction grip to the saddle should be the same!

They are just jeans.Whatever you feel most comfortable wearing while riding is what you should wear. Your instructor may prefer Levis' to Wrangler but it only matters to you.

Everyone that keeps putting the Jodphurs up and suggesting them. Those are typically for english saddle. And since he mentioned wranglers. I'm pretty sure he's riding western. Duh! Anyway.. Who cares what jeans you wear, I personally love a wrangler butt, and not fond of the Levi butt so much. Maybe your riding instructor is getting to turned on by your butt and wants you to wear something that isn't going to turn her on as much!

This sounds a little perculiar to me. Is yoru instructor a male of female? Does he/she have more on there mind other than teaching you how to ride.
What are you riding? A horse? I don't think it makes much difference what brand of jeans you wear to ride it they fit you well and are comfortable to you.
You should keep an eye on this person. They may not be looking after you AT the -> right angle~!
