How do you think characters, emotions and other "psychological" aspects of reality and living affect literature and vice versa.

It seems to me that they are inseperable. Psychology is the study of human nature, and whether the author's characters follow human nature or don't, the author must use a basic knowledge of the way things work in daily life to create a story to which people can relate.

Even if the authro is writing a fantastical and fictional work, he or she still has to use psychology to write the contrast of what normally happens and justify why this is.

I don't think people would read books if they didn't make sense psychologically. I think a lot of times, readers get frustrated with characters for making "unrealistic" decisions, mostly because they aren't justified by the author. I don't think you can separate literature about humans from psychology.
