Yahoo has a few games, Word Racer with 8 players is hectic, and NeoPets has a few good word games like Word Pyramid.
Other than that, try to find an online Scrabble community or something.
For other games, I'd recommend the following, all of which are free:
Guild Wars
RuneScape
NeverWinter Nights
Doom Collection
Doom 3
Yahoo
NeoPets
All of these games are available on PC, though some of them are pretty high-spec, be sure to check your computer beats the "recommended" specs before buying any game.
