What are some contemporary issues involving workplace violence? How may employers prepare to prevent and respond to such workplace violence?

I've never worked for a company that an work place violence was acceptable. I've seen people get fired because of fighting. Both of them, whether they started it or not. I think no tolerance is a very good policy

Most large corporations offer on-the-job training and seminars along with a zero tolerance policy for any type of violence targeting anything from insults to actual assault.

as an employer it is an issue when I injure myself trying to bash younger smaller employees that deserve it of course
