I am 45, and have several small lumps in my boobs, (one worse than the other) they are pretty tender to the touch and seem to be getting bigger and multiplying. I noticed them about a years ago. I really want to get them checked out, (obviously) but have no insurance, and not much cash, (single mom). Are there any programs out there that can help? I live in the Sacramento area, California.

You need a mamogram. The lumps could be cysts that they can just asperate with a needle. It doesn't hurt they numb it with a very fine small needle first then drain the lump. I wonder if you've had a mamogram. Check out www.the-rose.org. It's a non profit
healthcare to get a mamo at low cost or free. Not sure if it's just here in Houston or other cities. If not, call your health dept in Sacramento. I'm sure there is something there that can help someone with no insur and low income. There are LOTS of resources for everything in every city but you just have to start looking. DON'T WAIT-get it taken care of. I'm 53 and had a dbl mastectomy in Dec 05. But they got ALL the cancer because I was very firm in getting my mamograms EVERY October. That is breast cancer awareness month and if you make it a point to remember to get your mamo then it just might save your life. It saved my life. Good Luck.

You should a mammogram. Some clinics offer the service for free or a very small cost. Check with your local health clinic or hospital for more information. They should be able to direct you.

Hopefully, you do not find out that you have any form of Breast Cancer, but please, do not put this off any longer. I use to be a single mom and your children are looking for you to be in the best health as you can.

I think you should obviously go to the doctor and check this out, it could be serious or nothing. But definitely, just see if you can get into a clinic and get this checked out.

Good luck
