I wouldn't say it was the Celebrities. I would blame it on the Media. They glamorize those skeleton like stars, as if that's how every Girl should be. They glamorize "trashy" as if that's how every Girl should act. Britney Spears with no underwear has gotten more attention than Angelina doing great things for those less fortunate. Or Oprah building that forty million dollar school over in S. Africa. What's wrong with Society? Although I do think that the Celebrities hold some responsibility. If you're gonna be a slut; be a slut with class. If you know that teens and especially children are your biggest fans; then I think that the Stars should carry themselves with some respect and dignity. Can't blame everything on the Media. Weighing 80 pounds and making millions of dollars a year is pathetic not glamorous. There are too many poor people that don't have the money to buy food that can't help their situation and the way they look. No need for Celebrities to look like Death on a stick! Just my opinion!

It depends on the perosnality of the celebrity. Personally, Nicole Richie is not a good role model for teens. For a long time she has anorexia, a dangerous eating disorder, that can KILL. She was very skinny, and her weight was a dangerous amount of 88 pounds. Now would you like having your teenageer saying, Mom or Dad, I want to look like that, No. Also there can be good influences for children. miley Cyrus and Asley Tisdale are good influences. They are funny and outgoing, to great qulities of a person. Also Vannessa Anne Hugdens is a good influence too! I think that another bad influence is Fergie. Many teens are downloading this song, Fergilicios, and it does not teach teens the right way to go. Same with London Bridge. I personally like the beat of this song, but it does not have a good message. My answer to your question is, Sometimes celebrities are good inflences, and sometimes they are bad.

All celebrities are self-absorbed drama queens/kings. If they weren't they would not be in the spotlight - which helps their career (i.e. money, more gigs, etc). Some find that being out of control gives them that attention they need to put them in the spotlight. You know, like two-year olds or like the saying, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease". Teens are at a tough age where they are no longer kids but not quite adults so they try to figure out who they are and what they want to become. It is easy to emulate someone who is always getting attention since this is what they see or this is all they hear about. It helps them with their security issues. So, of course celebrities are bad examples and we can't have everyone running around acting like celebrities; but too much of a good thing is boring, now isn't it? And what teen wants to be boring?

As a teenager myself i believe that there are both good andbad examples of celebrities that teens follow. For Example, when i was younger i used to idolized the Olsen twins, but since they have gotten older and "spread their wings" i have found that everyone has their bad parts. So to answer your question, Every Celebrities has their flaws and their good sides. So no matter who you look up too there will always be bad habits they are being showen.

It depends on how they live their lives. As other posters have said, some celebrities are good and some are bad examples. It is up to the individual teen to learn from the example and learn from it be it good or bad.

It depends on the celebrity involved.
The whole business of idolizing people because they look good
in front of a camera is bad,not to mention the buckets of money
they get. Society needs to re-evaluate it's priorities so that hopefully the next generation's teens won't be even worse than the some of the ones we have today. Where are the real heroes?

It depends on what the celebrity is known for. Some singers or entertainers can be good examples, if they project a positive image for our teens to look up to and strive for. If they are singing about how it feels to be a teenager in love, and not about how to have sex with whomever comes around, that could be positive.
If they are singing about calling women out of their name and being generally disrespectful as a way of life, or getting as much money as you can, even if it is by unlawful means, this is a negative influence.
Celebrities can choose to do either one, positive or negative image. It's up to them. But in their business, and that's what it is for them, a business, they are simply trying to sell themselves to wider focus groups. So one day, they might be nice and innocent, and when they get older, they might be sexy or wild.
Sometimes though, it's vice versa. They start out wild , crazy and sexy, and as they mature, they mellow out. Look at Prince.
I liked him when I was 16, and I like him a whole lot more now.

depends on which one

example of a bad one- brittney spears, linsey lohan

example of a good one- kelly clarkson

ya see- brittney usually does strip performances which may encorage teens to do the same. Lohan has a habbit of accusing people like the whole "stolen purse" incident

Kelly gives decent performances and if u look her up on the internet, u cant find many negetive things about her, and that's the way it should be.

They are both depending on the celebrity and what they have to offer to teens. The strung out, drunk, eating disordered sluts(male as well as female) are not great. The healthy intelligent ones could be but who knows whats hiding in there closet.

both

well its bad that they theach us that a material shallow life is good and what you want. although actually the press does that.
the celebrities themselves can lead teens to a lot of different things. like even if the example is a junkie maybe his determination or something will lead the teen to doing something better with his her life. who knows.
