No, they approach YOU. Being a lady might go against you, incidentally.
People who approach THEM, never ever get in.
What are they, they are a society with secrets.. Nothing sinister. Just some old guys. A bit like Laurel and Hardy in "Sons of the Desert".
But if you ever get arrested, or there are only two applicats for a job and there is nothing to choose between you, now THAT'S when you want to be a freemason!
Which brings me to an interesting point. Freemasons fold job applications in a certain way, so that the recipient - if he is ALSO a freemason- will recognise this.

You can't join, you have to be invited, as for women becoming Freemasons they can't but they can be part of their own section called the Eastern Star. It is like the lady masons part of Freemasonary but you have to have a close relative as a Freemason in order to join. For the other folks who seem to like to put them down did you know that the Freemasons are one of the biggest charitable orginisations in the world.

You cannot join the Freemasons. You have to be invited. Freemasons do not generally invite any Tom, Dick or Harry.

if you are a female you are not aloud to be a freemason. this rule dates back to the 1700's ....................however
"The order of the Eastern star" is a masonic fertirinety for women . if you wish to join simply ask a freemason , you will be asked to fill out a " patition for canidacy" you will be investigated by a panal of 3 freemasons, if you are found worthy and well qualified. you will be voted in or not voted in

as others have said here The Order of Eastern Star would be the route for you to take if you are 18 years or older. if under 18 there are the Job's Daughters or the Rainbow Girls. the Masonic Fraternity itself is for males only. suggest you go to a person you know to be a Mason or the local Lodge and talk with a member. any Mason or Eastern Star Member will be more than happy to help answer your questions and determine your eligibility. by inquiring you already have made the first step to finding the answers to your questions. if a local Lodge is not available contact the Grand Lodge of Masons in the State in which you reside and they will help you.

The Freemasons were formed many many years ago there was a special on the history channel I think you have to be nominated to be accepted into it. by another Freemason and you have to prove to them that you can be trusted they have secret ceremonies my brother is one never talks about it just some rich boys club.

To join you have to stand on one leg and show a nipple through a hole in your shirt whilst shaking a guys hand using the special masons handshake. Its probably not worth it though as there are no girls in the freemasons.
