i bought a hat for myself over the holidays and brought it in to school today, and a couple of my friends told me i look retarded with it on. i like the way i look with it though. should i listen to them and not wear it?

Lots of times, when we tease our friends, it's because we CAN. Not because the thing we say is so true or important, but because it's something we can pick on for teasing. One of these days your friends will be grown adults, past the teasing stage (god willing). They'll be wearing hats by then, and remembering you from school and how dumb they acted back then.
Do it. I'll bet others will start wearing hats (or other items) because of your action.

If you always worry about what others think, you'll never be happy... not with a hat, not with yourself, not with anything, because there will always be someone that doesn't like what you have, what you wear or what you're doing... There will also always be someone who is jealous.
If you like the way you look with the hat on, that is what counts. And you might want to tell those "friends" of yours that it's not the wrapping that counts, but what's inside.
Make yourself happy. When you arrive in the world, you arrive alone... and you'll be leaving it alone... so while you're here, why not keep that in mind... Yeah. Wear the hat and the heck with the rest. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up to make others happy with your wrapping all the time... Is that what you really want?
And anyway, even if you did look like a retard, are you one? If your answer to that one is no (and I think it will be), who cares what the hat looks like to other people... As long as it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone, that's what counts. Really. And anyhow, are these so-called friends gonna stop being your friend if you wear the hat???? If so, you might want to just keep the hat and change friends...

If you are a leader and not a follower, then wear your hat. Not everybody can get away with wearing one, and if it looks great, that is A-okay.
Some people are afraid to step out of their comfort zone and are too concerned about opinions of others.
I think you might be more noticeable wearing it and who knows, there might be some girls who think it is pretty sexy.......
You have to be comfortable with it, that is the most important thing....not what others think....

Why are you worried about what other people think? You have already said that you like the hat on you.....nothing else matters. Don't let other people decide who you are. Trust yourself and have confidence in yourself. People in our society worry too much about other people's opinions. Do you!!!

if they say it's retarted maybe it is you don't want to make a fool of yourself. but if you like it, then you like it. Don't matter if you listen to them or not. Things can't always go to the way you want it to go but look at your hat again see if you really like it.

No it doesnt matter what other people think unless you like it, is what I always say. But its really your choice but You shouldnt listen to them if u like the way u look

Wear it if you like it. You need to be an individual. They'll get used to it. If you keep getting feedback from alot of people though, there may be a problem.

my friends do that to me all the time. well mostly my bestfriends. but other pplz likes it. n its other matter is u like it. do u think it looks good? if u do wear it!!! if they dont want u to be better then them they r gonna tell u its ugly evan though its not!

You bought it, not them. If you feel good about something on you, so what if it bothers everyone else. Maybe they're just jealous that you were able to get it and not them. Enjoy it!
