Bring something different than everyone else will bring. How about cheese and crackers? Everyone else will bring candy, cookies and cakes and there will be too many sweets.

bring cute notebooks or pencils...if it is a food item you could bring trail-mixes or cupcakes or cookies everyone loves cupcakes or cookies when during school.
