Get a router
Get a wireless router with built in modem and 2 wireless network cards, one for each computer.
You can have one wireless network card and a cable linking the other card directly to the router/modem but getting both cards wireless is tidier and only a little extra cost.
Getting a router/modem means everything is in one box and less messy.
That's it both computers will share the internet.
Wireless means you do not need cabling around your home and costs around $160
I am sure other people will recommend the same set up I offered.

You have a strange setup there: 2 wireless routers to serve a single household. Now you want the 2 router to communicate with each other. That is in also uncommon. It sounds as if you are not explaining your configuration properly. Do you mean that you have one router downstairs connected to the internet, while the PC has a wireless network card or USB wireless receiver installed? But the PC cannot connect to the router to get to the internet. If that is the case, you need to log into your router and configure it. There are a few parameters to set up: the name of the network (e.g. mynetwork), the encryption method (use WPA and enter a key which you use on the PC to log in); and that's basically it for the router. Oh, make sure it is set up for access point. On the PC side, you install the software for the USB device and use it to scan for the router. Use the connect option and then where it asks for the WPA option, click on it and enter your key. Hopefully it should work. The additional info you have provided suggests that you have been ill-advised to get 2 routers - one to connect to your ISP, and the other (B) for the PC to connect to router A. That is not correct. You are not going to connect from one router to another and access the internet from B. Chances are you have both router acting as DHCP servers and clashing. What you need is an extended range router and a sensitive wireless receiver at the PC end if reception is a problem.

There are two ways you could conect your sons computer to the internet. The easiest way would be to get an ADSL modem router which can connect up to 4 computer to the internet using the same modem. If your computers are close enough together then you could connect each one to the modem using an ethernet cable but if his computer is in a different room then it would be easier to buy a wirless connector such as a network card or a USB adaptor. This would enable you sons computer to receive the internet signal from your main computer without any cables or wires running around the house.
We have a "Belkin" Wirless G Router with USB connector and i would highly recommend them. They have a brilliant technical support line which helped us to set it all up and we have never had any problems.

Yes, Here are two solutions.
1) If you have internet by rogers, jus pay $10 more on internet for 2 modems or cable plugs for internet
2) Go to best buy or future shop and ask for a router, but i dont recommend paying a tech. for encrpyting the router so others cant hack, Instead Just add a password Simple as that :) but routers can be a little bit pricy

Yeah, a router is what u need. connect the router to ur broadband line and then connect both the computers to the router. If the computers are far away, get a wireless router and then some wireless connectors. Put the connectors into the computers and off u go!

Do not bother about wireless, it is too slow, expensive and is not secure. Buy a wired router from a good shop or eBay, it should be about £30.00 or even cheaper and get some flat cat 6 cable from ebuyer.com. 20 metres goes for £5.00 Never mind there will wires, flat cable will go under carpets nicely, if you have to drill hole in walls, do it where it will not be noticed. They are plug and play, just plug the cables into the PC's and the router and that will be all you will have to do. None of this messing about with WAP passwords that wireless demands, it is too much expense and trouble, get a wired router. I recommend Lynksys or Belkin.

Network them together using a router/broadband modem. From the sound of things, it might be best to connect his wirelessly (if there is such a word).

Get a router and a wireless adapter. Follow the instructions and you will have a home network. I recommend Linksys products.

you can get both to use the internet but you will need to use a router. Install the software on his computer, and hook your cable modem up to the router, then take 2 ethernet cables and hook each one of them to each of your computers via the router
